Learn Their Stories

Behind every court case is a human being—someone whose life has been upended by a system that too often fails to deliver justice. This page is dedicated to sharing the real stories of people who have been falsely accused or are fighting to receive fair and adequate legal representation. These are not just case files—they are individuals with families, futures, and voices that deserve to be heard. By reading their stories, you become part of a growing movement to expose injustice, raise awareness, and take action toward a more equitable legal system.

Desert Canyon Landscape
Montavius Johnson

In 2003, Montavius Johnson was convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery in North Carolina and sentenced to life without parole. From the beginning, his case was filled with serious flaws:

  • His court-appointed attorney failed to present adequate defense

  • Key witness testimony that could have supported his innocence was excluded

  • No direct evidence ever tied him to the crime

Despite these issues, Montavius’s appeals were denied, and he has now spent over 20 years in prison—still fighting for the fair trial he was never given. His story is a powerful example of how easily the justice system can fail those without the means to defend themselves.
